Happy Friday everyone! This is the 8th Philanthropic Friday post already.
Here in the states October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. (I got this one up just in time. haha)
One of the most widely know breast cancer awareness nonprofit organizations is Susan G. Komen for the Cure. It’s so easy to contribute to this organization because it’s everywhere!
No really, everywhere.
Here’s a list of companies that have partnered with Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Each of them provides products (usually fab pink ones) where a portion of the cost goes to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. This program makes it ridiculously easy to help while purchasing things you needed anyway. Maybe while you are shopping for the holidays this year choose a participating item instead of the others that don’t donate some of the purchase price, it’s easy!
Susan G. Komen for the Cure also has shop where you can purchase pink ribbon items.
There are also a TON of events around the U.S. you could participate in. You can also create an event of your own. Maybe organize something at work, or with your quilt group. Passionately Pink for the Cure will help you plan your event every step of the way, they even have a bunch of ideas to get the ball rolling. How about a pink dress down day at work?
You can donate directly. 87% of all money donated goes directly to research, education, screening, and treatment.
If you’d like info about breast cancer there is a ton of info here.
Here’s what I’ve been working on…
It’s my progress on my Wave Runner Quilt-a-long. Go on over to V’s blog and check out everyone else’s progress. There’s some really great stuff over there!!
Oh, and don’t forget to feel your boobies monthly!! Here’s how to do it the right way. Remember you should know them best, early detection saves lives!!
