Pan-Mass Challenge

This weekend was the 30th annual Pan-Massachusetts Challenge!

The PMC is a bike-a-thon that raises money for the Dana-Faber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy Fund.  Every year thousands of cyclists (5,000+) raise tons of cash (more than $1000 each) to be a part of this and every dollar they raise goes directly to the Jimmy Fund. According to the PMC website this event is the single largest donor and raises half of the funds the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute receives each year.  Last year they raised $35 million!

They congregate in Massachusetts one weekend every summer and ride from Sturbridge to Provincetown, a 190 mile trek.  There are a few other routes but Sturbridge to P-town is the original, and the one I think of when I think of the PMC.

This is a fantastic cause so if you are looking for a great place to donate your money, this is one of those places.  Cancer is something that each of us knows all to well; we’ve experienced it ourselves or have experienced it through our friends and loved ones.  Please help to make that something of the past.  Help fund the research that one day will do just that, make cancer a thing of the past. Please donate here.

For more information about this awesome event please visit the Pan-Mass Challenge website.

I really love blogging and raising awareness about great causes so I have decided that philanthropy is going to be a regular event on this blog.  Urban Crunch is going to have Philanthropic Fridays where I write about a different charity or nonprofit and I hope that you will participate by donating, linking back to these posts, and suggesting causes that are near & dear to your heart, even institute Philanthropic Fridays on your blog!  When I (finally) get the Urban Crunch Etsy store stocked I will also be donating one percent (to start) of the purchase price of my items to the cause highlighted in that weeks Philanthropic Friday.  I really hope this is something that you will enjoy reading about & participating in so stay tuned for the first Philanthropic Friday coming up this Friday!!
